Andrew Alexander’s life and Career
Famous writer, theater and television producer Andrew Alexander was born on March 24, 1944 in London, England. Alexander has worked with many different people and networks he co-owns Second city with D’Arcy Stuart. Alexander ultimately took on the debts of the Second City in Canada in exchange for the rights and control of the station. Later in his career Alexander produced and developed tv shows for ABC, Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime….etc. Andrew Alexander has an extensive list of people he has collaborated with on developing Movies and Tv Shows and has won and been nominated for a few awards too.
Andrew Alexander wasn’t always a big time Hollywood producer before all this happened and his life changed. He was a student at Tri-State college in Indiana, and Ryerson University in Canada. After working as a editor for Ski Magazine Alexander Alexander moved on to pursue his passion as a Producer Co-producing in theaters in Canada getting his start. Here is where he met Bernie Sahlins and bought Second City in 1974.
Second City and SCTV are not his only accomplishments though they won him an ACTRA award, two Emmy awards and countless nominations. But don’t let this overshadow Alexander’s work on MGM Television, ABC, NBC, Fox Television, CBS, and countless major networks. He has worked beside Mike Myers, Bill Murray, Chris Farley, and Steve Carell on Movie and Television production and that is just a handful of the people he has worked with. Outside of his career he served on the Columbia College Board of Trustees. Alexander and D’Arcy Stuart Put SCTV up for sale in 2020 as a result to a letter written by Second City comedians in a response to the Black Lives Movement.
