Eric Lefkofsky Contribution towards Changing Cancer Treatment Narrative

Besides being the founder of Tempus, Eric Lefkofsky serves as the Chief Executive officer of the company. Tempus is one of the foremost leaders in providing technology-based medicine solutions. Eric Lefkofsky is also a professor at the University of Chicago. After he graduated from the University of Michigan, he received his Juris Doctor from Michigan University law school. Eric Lefkofsky is a co-founder of Lightbank, a company that invests in funding businesses in disruptive technology. Further, he serves as a trustee for several organizations, including The Art Institute of Chicago and World Business Chicago.


Tempus, founded in 2015, collects and analyzes patient data and generates genomic data by analyzing DNA and other related information. Its primary goal is to offer support to the doctors in administering the appropriate treatment. The company provides support to doctors that enable them to make an evidence-based diagnosis. In an interview hosted by Tribune, successful businessman and activist investor Eric Lefkofsky mentioned that Tempus company plans to go beyond cancer treatment to depression and diabetes. 


Being one of the companies with the most valued cancer-fighting technology and treatment, the company raised $100 million to expand its operations in fighting other diseases. Led by Eric Lefkofsky, the company has an estimate of 1000 employees, which is a rise from 700 employees in May 2020. Tempus was listed among the companies in Chicago that have a value of more than $1 billion in 2018. According to Eric Lefkofsky, its value has, however, risen since 2018. A variety of investors have invested in the company, including a United Kingdom-based investment management firm named Baillie Gifford.
